Airlie Gardens

The Airlie Gardens is a large botanical gardens in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Gardens boast over 27 hectares of beautiful gorgeous plants and trees. The Airlie Gardens began as a private garden for the Pembroke Jones family in 1886. The name “Airlie” comes from the Jones Family’s home in Scotland of the same name. The garden is home to thousands and thousands of varieties and species of plants and trees and flowers. Hurricane Florence, unfortunately, devastated the Airlie Gardens, destroying over 300 trees in the botanical gardens. Since then, the Airlie Gardens has recovered successfully.

The Airlie Gardens is also home to the famous Airlie Oak, a 500 year old southern live oak. It is one of the largest live oaks in North Carolina.

The Airlie Gardens are located at 300 Airlie Rd on the coast of North Carolina in Wilmington. They are near the Battleship North Carolina.
